Acceleration across disciplines at ACIC18
The Sydney Informatics Hub hosted the Accelerated Computing for Innovation Conference (#ACIC18) last week. Around 450 people attended throughout the day, getting involved in innovative talks, meetings, hands-on posters, and many fruitful discussions.
The final program and presentations throughout the day are available from https://informatics.sydney.edu.au/hpc_conference/.
Here’s how some of the attendees and presenters experienced the day:
“It was fascinating seeing talks in the morning about bioinformatics, the challenges they face and how they are using novel approaches on high performance computing to get their work done, and then seeing similar hurdles in the AI session in the afternoon! The room is full of people working on totally different things, but with the ability to help each other”
Thanks to @Cosmic_Horizons presentation at #ACIC18 I now understand about 2% of what physicists do to use all the CPU cycles on HPC systems. pic.twitter.com/tgsAMDUp1h
